Simplifying Culinary Delights - Zulay Kitchen
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in home care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Aaron Cordovez, Co-Founder and CEO of Zulay Kitchen, located in Clearwater, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Zulay Kitchen. My wife and I created Zulay Kitchen to make shopping easier than ever in today's busy world. We believe that cooking should be fast and easy so you have more time to enjoy with your loved ones. Our customers are people who spend time in the kitchen and want to make the cooking process easier.
Tell us about yourself
About eight years, my wife and I were expecting our first child. A friend of mine introduced me to selling on Amazon. I wanted to make an extra $500 a month to help be able to give to my newborn daughter. After two years of working a full-time job while Amazon was my side hustle, I built it up to selling over $100,000/month for three months in a row, at which point I quit my job to do Amazon full-time.
What motivates me is that we all have the same 24 hours, but with a couple of changes, you can make a humongous difference. With the same amount of time and even the same amount of effort, you can change a lot of people's lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Being able to provide for my family and so many other people's families is the main driver of that. Additionally, creating amazing products for my customers.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Managing cash, loans, and risk, and managing not falling into the trap of "shiny object syndrome" and getting distracted, but instead, staying focused on the main course of action.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Start today. Don't wait or think about it. Even if your first try is not successful, the lessons learned are more valuable than waiting months or years for the "right time." There is no right time. You just need to start.
- You need to make sure you are in the right vehicle. Amazon is one of if not the greatest vehicles for building a real business and real wealth.
- Focus on the customer. Create a better product, better experience, and make it easier for them. Don't get distracted or obsessed with the numbers. If you put the customer first, the numbers will follow.
