What's your business, and who are your customers?

Zeroats is the world's first naturally-flavored, sugar-free oatmeal company. Our customers are health-conscious eaters that want to enjoy a flavor-packed breakfast without sugar!

Tell us about yourself

I began by solving my own problem. I love eating oatmeal, but plain oatmeal was so bland. I wanted to create a product that tasted as good as the flavored oatmeal in the store without any of the sugar. Our customers motivate me every day. Knowing that people all across the USA get excited about eating a healthy breakfast now brings joy to my heart and encourages me to keep working hard every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Beginning a business in the food industry with no prior knowledge and actually bringing it to life.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Trying to manage profitability and cash flow so we can keep up with demand from our amazing customers. Our customers love the product, but in a physical products business, it can be difficult to keep enough cash to fulfill all the demand.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Follow your heart when it comes to finding a business idea.
  2. Focus on what the customers want, not what you want.
  3. Don't get caught up trying to copy other successful businesses. Your uniqueness is what can help bring something into the world that no one else has before.
