Travel Through Your Personal Legend - Ypnoça
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Julie Rocque, Founder of Ypnoça, located in Montreal, QC, CA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I offer Individual or small group hypnosis sessions and self-hypnosis workshops for event organizers (festivals, personal growth retreats, etc.). Anyone engaged in a growth, healing, or exploration process can turn to hypnosis. Through the search for inner harmony, motivation, confidence, balance, better sleep, performance, a change in behavior, or the pursuit of another personal goal, hypnosis allows an individual to connect with the resources, beliefs, needs, and subconscious mechanisms that inhabit them. Hypnosis can be a good complement to psychotherapy (or other forms of therapy), as it gives space and voice to those parts of us who often don't get to be seen and heard.
Tell us about yourself
Trained first in theatre and then cinema, I've long been fascinated with the stories we tell ourselves and, above all, the power they have over us. Ericksonian hypnosis makes very skilled (sometimes surgical) use of these narratives to bring someone to travel through their personal legend and help it evolve. At the heart of my ever-evolving practice, my first passion (for dramaturgy) is walking hand in hand with my most recent one. A feeling of alignment and a magical reunion. Self-hypnosis became my daily practice in 2015. The calling to train in this art form grew in me over a few years and the French school I dreamt of attending. I eventually opened a branch in Quebec, so life delivered it to my doorstep. I simply love having the privilege to witness the movements within a person in the process of meeting themselves. It'll never cease to enchant me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
At this point, it's the respect for my pace in establishing my practice while continuing to take various courses and training helping me feel more solid and equipped in the early phase of this new work.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Drawing the line between work and personal life, being able to cross that line when it's time and stay on the right side of it until it's time to cross back.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know yourself, what makes you tick, what your strengths and weaknesses are, and what you are willing and able to put into your project.
- Know what makes you unique and what that's worth; why would a client seek you and not someone else.
- If you need employers and/or collaborators, choose them very well, as the energy and flow in the dynamic will make all the difference in the world.
