What's your business, and who are your customers?
I teach professionals to build high-value networks that generate ongoing connections. In addition, I run an online community that is focused on facilitating meaningful connections between members. My customers are top-level B2B service providers.
Tell us about yourself
I am a serial entrepreneur who loves everything about the business. I have owned an online marketing company, a manufacturing company, a cat cafe, and more! Throughout all of my business ventures, I have done some form of consulting. My focus in consulting has focused over the last 3 years on making lots of connections and teaching others how to do the same. I am motivated daily by helping those around me succeed. If one connection leads to a new client, job, strategic partnership, or some other valuable conversation, it is a win.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have received a number of awards and accolades over the years. However, I am most excited to be able to say I have helped over 500 business owners to grow their businesses. The lasting impact on those businesses and the employees, customers, and communities they impact is amazing!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I like to talk about the three "M"s when it comes to business - Money, Motivation, and Momentum. You have to always focus on sales and revenue. Without consistent cash flow, the business can't survive. You also need to stay motivated, or the day-to-day challenges will become too much. Make sure you have clear goals that motivate you personally and professionally to keep going. Lastly, momentum is something that, when you get it, you need to keep it. A lot of business owners will slow down when they start getting momentum because other challenges arise. It is important to keep on pushing.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Tip number one is to find a mentor or mentors. You need to surround yourself with people who have done what you are trying to do and can provide you with guidance. Second, you need to plug into a community of some sort. Being a business owner is a lonely journey, and you need to surround yourself with like-minded individuals that you can relate to and lean on when needed. Lastly, set clear and measurable goals. You need to have short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals so that you know where you are heading. It is important to make sure the goals have clear, measurable components to them.
