Feel Amazing in Your Own Body - Yogina Academy

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Elina Munter, Founder of Yogina Academy, located in Gävle, Gävleborg, Sweden.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help high-achieving women who are struggling with pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse/heaviness, or pain during sex after giving birth but are getting dismissed and devalued by the medical society by being told, “Everything looks just fine,” even though they are still hurting and/or leaking.

With my coaching program, “Yoni Academy,” I help these women to optimize their vaginal healing (their “yoni”) and convert their whole body to become a temple of healing so that they can FEEL not just fine but AMAZING IN THEIR OWN BODY.

Tell us about yourself

For over 10 years, I have struggled with vaginismus myself, which usually made sex painful, and it made it hard for me to use tampons or a menstrual cup. After giving birth, more problems like incontinence started to show up as well. I, just like many other mothers, got dismissed from the medical system and didn’t get much help. Everyone I met had a way of fixing my problems, “just do Kegels,”-which has only made my problems worse.

Today I have healed all my pelvic floor problems; long gone are the days with any pelvic or sexual pain. My mission in life is to help other mothers who are also getting dismissed from the medical system and not being presented with a solution that is working, optimize their healing, and become in control of their own bodies. No one should ever have to go untreated for over a decade as I did.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

What I am most proud of in my work is all the amazing mothers I have helped live a more relaxed, nourished, and fulfilled life with gained confidence in themselves. I am proud of not only the effect that my programs have on the mother but the ripple effect it creates in the entire family.

There is nothing more heartwarming and fulfilling than getting the feedback that they are finally able to be a fully present mother to their children and a more loving partner without their pelvic pain or problems holding them back.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Balancing your life. Balancing work vs. time off and balancing living in the moment vs. working on creating a future in your business. It can be easy to get caught up with all your plans and ideas, so you forget to live in the moment and really enjoy other parts of your life. Time is the most precious thing and the only thing we can never get more of, so don’t be so focused on where you want to be that you forget to live in the moment. To balance your life is one of the hardest things for a business owner, but when you get it right, it can be the most rewarding thing ever.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT. This is one of the most important things I have learned on my journey; sometimes done is better than perfect. I think this is the hardest thing for many perfectionists to realize. You always want to do your best when it is your business, right? But everything doesn’t have to be perfect all the time. If you always have the pressure to do everything flawlessly, you will end up with nothing because you will always still be working on it.
  2. Prioritize your time and focus. You cannot be everything for everyone at the same time. For me, paying clients and partners will ALWAYS be the most important thing in my business. To give my best to them will always come before keeping my social media channels filled with new content daily, among other things. If you live with the stress of being everything to everyone, you might get burned out on your way to success.
  3. Surround yourself with supportive people, and don’t listen to the naysayers. You will have so many people in your life that want to give their advice on how you should live your life and say that you shouldn’t do this. Starting your own business isn’t for everyone, but the only one who can decide what the right decision for you is is YOU.
