Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Armen Mardirousi, Kundalini Yoga Teacher at Yogi Arvindpal, located in Glendale, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a successful entrepreneur with over 25 years of business experience. I started teaching yoga in 2017. The majority of my yoga students are creatives and business owners.

Tell us about yourself

I began practicing Kundalini Yoga in the Summer of 2013. I was drawn to this particular yogic system when I read that Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness. After my yoga journey was well underway, I was blessed with the spiritual name Arvindpal Singh – The divine Lion of God, who falls in love with the beauty of his soul, and who is the supporter, friend, and protector of the purity of his inner spirit. I later went on to teacher training and became a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher and have been teaching since 2017.

I hold an undergrad degree in business administration with an option in marketing from the California State University in Los Angeles and an MBA from Woodbury University. I have started several businesses and am currently actively involved in the management of several organizations in various industries, including real estate, global logistics, and technology. I am a sought-after business consultant and speaker and am involved in several organizations with a focus on improving the community in which they serve. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have been in business for myself my entire adult life. My biggest accomplishment has been the fact that I have always played by my own rules, doing what I want when I want.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As a business owner, the majority of the early years were spent in feast or famine mode where there was plenty of money or not enough.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take responsibility for your own life. Know that what happens is a result of what you do.
  2. Don't expect anyone to care about you or your business nearly as much as you do. Putting too much trust in others can be devastating to your project and/or business.
  3. Don't give up, but recognize when it's time to pivot.
