What's your business, and who are your customers?

I teach trauma-informed yoga to the Indigenous community.

Tell us about yourself

I am motivated to bring yoga to the Indigenous community because we don't often have access to wellness programs in the city or on the reserve. I also want to show that anyone can do yoga; there is so much more to it than the physical practice.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Anytime that a student comes back to attend one of the classes that I offer, I feel it's a big accomplishment on its own because I know they want to continue to invest time into creating space for themselves and healing.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is making sure I carve out time and space for myself each day. It's a practice, and something will continue to strive to do to ensure that I am healthy and well first and foremost.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you have a mentor, someone who you look upto that you can turn to for advice and help along the way.
  2. Building relationships and networking is important.
  3. If it's something you are passionate about, go for it!
