Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sabrina Anahi Garcia, founder of Yoga-Natal, located in Montréal, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Yoga-Natal is a yoga studio dedicated to perinatal care and preparing women for childbirth through yoga. Our perinatal yoga is adapted according to the needs of the mother-to-be throughout the different trimesters, both at a biomechanical and energetic level. We also offer postnatal yoga courses with babies, women’s circles, and nature retreats focused on conscious motherhood. We are fascinated by motivating and facilitating the bond with the sacred feminine.

We also provide 100 hours of training sessions for those who are interested in becoming pre- and post-natal yoga teachers.

Tell us about yourself

My first pregnancy made it easier for me to feel the feminine energies. I was delighted to learn about the perinatal process. I started practicing prenatal yoga in 2013 at a perinatal center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and it was there that I realized that I really loved everything that brings women closer to their natural bodily wisdom. Every day I am happy to teach my pre- and post-natal yoga courses; this inspires me to connect women with their bodies through energetic postures, visualizations, and the practice of movement. I feel that this link between the body, the mind, and the spirit gives me energy and, in turn, helps me to give it to others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is generating a link with families so I can accompany them every step of the way. As a Doula, I help more than 300 couples a year through my activities either in person at my perinatal yoga studio in Montreal or virtually through my 12 online programs, ranging from Hypno-Nidra Naissance to prenatal yoga chakras, prenatal yin, prenatal couples, and the postpartum program with or without babies.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

To not lose motivation and know-how to consciously adapt and be flexible to the needs of your clients to offer an excellent service. But I would say that the most difficult thing is knowing how well the business is financially maintained between what is given and what is received.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure that your business relates exactly to what you love to give, according to your values and your vision.
  2. Feel an intuitive call to take action. You know you have to do it, you have no idea how—but you have the certainty that you can do it.
  3. Train with professionals who inspire you and give you wisdom and confidence.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I am recognized by the Foundation Yoga Alliance with the E-RYT200 certification that recognizes my experience of 1,000 hours of teaching in perinatal yoga. I am a Doula and member of the Association of Naturotherapeutes du Québec (ANQ), the Québec Association of Accompagnants à la naissance (AQAN), and the Québec Association of Doulas (QAD).
