What's your business, and who are your customers?

Warm Wick is a candle company based in Brookfield, IL. It is a luxury aromatherapy brand created and designed with sustainable and eco-friendly ingredients with a mission of sharing Latinx and Chicagoan roots. Our candles are inspired by Latinx heritage, culture, traditions, food, and nature. We produce high-quality candles in small batches, hand-poured, and made with premium fragrance oils blended into natural soy wax.

Tell us about yourself

With a background in graphic design and a craft stylist approach, Yezenia created a candle brand. She has received her Bachelor's in Technical Management and earned her Masters in Project Management. She started making candles because she could not find any handcrafted candles based on Latino culture. This narrative depiction was missing. She is motivated every day by her two young girls for her family. She is creating a future for them.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Her biggest accomplishment as a business owner is creating a company brand from scratch and candle workshops.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The biggest challenge of running a small business is learning how to increase sales and finding resources to find capital, and overcoming slow seasons.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
