Healing the body, mind and soul - Yes Girl! Thrive
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christina Ifurung, founder of Yes Girl! Thrive, located in Centennial, CO.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I always feel weird categorizing my business because it's a life's work. When I refer to life's work, I'm referencing our ever evolving growth as humans to heal body, mind and soul. Yes Girl! Thrive is all about saying YES to yourself while also saying Yes to saying No to the things that do no support you. Going from simply surviving to thriving.
A Spiritual Life Coach explores the deeper connections between people and the Universe ⚛️. I support women gain a new and deeper understanding of the world they live in through their human experiences and the energies that flow within it. Why is this even important? Well, I know what it feels to be lost, alone and unsupported. As a full time charge nurse, a single-divorced mother to a kindergartener (and so many other things) I understand the feeling of being Ohh-verwhelmed. That overwhelm then leading to over thinking (can someone say analysis paralysis?), to anxiety attacks, and finally ..don don don... emotional reactivity. Ain't nobody got time for the Crazy Karens out here 🤪. It wasn't until I tapped into self healing modalities through Reiki, sound healing and the power I have in being a co-creator with this divine universe along with tangible transformational tools that I was able to start managing my own chaos. In that journey, I have become a practitioner of these energetic modalities to help women in any way I can in their self discovery journey.
Tell us about yourself
I am nurse by trade who has spent 13 years specialized in Newborn Intensive Care Units, with nine of those years in a charge role. I was a leader in healing arts before I even knew it. There were a series of different events that sparked my evolvement into what I now categorize myself as a Babaylan-Inspired Spiritual Energy Healer. I started out in health and wellness and with my clients in that section of my entrepreneurship I kept seeing women hitting emotional and mental blocks to achieving their body composition goals. As I dug deeper with them, I not only saw their need to tackle that part of their journey first, but then I also started to see my own need for healing.
Yes Girl! Thrive started solely as an event project to create an inclusive safe spaces for women of color to network and express themselves openly and vulnerably because I was on a mission to create it for myself. Since it didn't exist at the time, I said, "Well, I guess I'll just create it!" I quickly found myself building a six month program using the tools that helped me to overcome some of my own healing barriers. That progressed into starting a podcast, getting certified as a sound healing practitioner, Reiki certfied, and Tarot certified.
Needless to say, my whole life revolves around the constant idea that the teacher understands his/her role when they know they will always be the student.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
STARTING!!! Many of us are blocked by our fears and those fears that keep us small. We are all so capable of so many things. The possibilities are endless and we are the ones that stop ourselves from getting to those goals.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Finding time for me! I harmonize plenty in my life from being a full time IV Infusion Nurse, to running my own businesses, being a single-mom and a partner in a relationship. What I have found, is when I am not intentionally saving time for myself all these other things fall away quickly from me. I'm learning that this is a non-negotiable.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
1) Be very clear on your vision without being focused on every little detail.
2) Trust yourself. If you have the idea, that's on purpose! God/Higher Power/Universe plants the seed for a reason. It doesn't matter if there are a million people out here doing what you do....NO ONE will do it like you. You come from a different background that deserves to be heard and seen.
3) REST & PLAY! I'm finding this more and more relevant and important in my own process of being an entrepreneur! Can't anything get done if you are pooped out and your creative juices certainly will not be flowing if you don't figure out how to harmonize that in the beginning! Believe me I know from burn out experience.
