The X Factor in Outsourcing - Xponential Outsourcery

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sash Sangam, CEO of Xponential Outsourcery, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We have two segments to our business model.

  1. A C-level executive on hire to fit in as needed on an ad-hoc basis for small and medium businesses.
  2. A full cycle sales outsourcing service.

Our customers are small and medium businesses across industries looking for a cost-effective inside sales solution, which includes a high-level vision as well as the trenches' execution.

Tell us about yourself

Xponential Outsourcery, as an idea, took shape 15 years back when I was doing reasonably well in my consulting career. I had served C -Level assignments with multiple North American businesses across the spectrum. I realized that small and medium companies had limited options regarding riding the outsourcing wave.

The choice lay between the 'Fortune 500 mindset' ('Providers with a Prima Donna, we know it all approach, Pricey, Contracts that tie you down) and the offshore sweatshops (Low on ethics, Weak on infrastructure/protocols and not quite in sync with the 'North American business culture).

All the while, our clients told me what they wanted from an outsourcing partner. I listened and started working on my business model. Cut to the present. We have a successful, hybrid onshore-offshore model focused on the needs of mid-sized businesses.

The US-based owners custom-design the solution for each client, micro-manage the communication/delivery mechanism and ensure our offshore teams deliver high-quality service.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To have delivered excellence without too much 'flamboyance' and walked the talk with the limited clients we can handle.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being able to balance between what's right for you and what's suitable for your clients/partners.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do sufficient research on your competitors and a sample set of target clients to know whether your idea has any differentiation at all to merit entry into the mix.
  2. Be hands-on-- There is really no option but to be a micro-manager until you grow big enough to delegate to the right set of managers.
  3. Be orderly and systematic in terms of allocating your time between marketing, operations, and finance, on a day-to-day basis!
