What's your business, and who are your customers?
Xanthines All Natural Products offers safe, natural, non-toxic products for the home, bath, body, and hair for the entire family. Our customers include those wanting a company they can trust to provide products that are not only effective but also safer alternatives to potentially toxic products on the shelves. Customers also love our company because, as a Forensic Toxicologist, I can answer all their questions about ingredients and their effects so they can make more informed choices when buying products for their families. As an advocate for women's sexual and reproductive health, we also have a comprehensive line of womb wellness products that not only teach women about the Amazingness of their bodies but also provide products that support optimal vaginal (Yoni) health. These customers love that we help them take power over and understand their bodies in a way their doctors are unable to. We hope to use our products to positively impact the statistics that currently show how Black and Brown women are disproportionately affected by womb issues.
Tell us about yourself
When I was becoming a Forensic Toxicologist, I became more aware of the ingredients in the products that I was using because I could now understand them on a biochemical level. This understanding took me down a path of throwing out most of the products I was using while educating those around me about the potential dangers of products like antiperspirant and fragrance-filled lotions and shampoos etc. Then came the question of what products they could use instead that would be healthier. I had no company that I could fully vouch for, so then I had an epiphany. Who better to create non-toxic products than a Toxicologist, like me, with a strong scientific knowledge base? Thus, Xanthines All Natural Products was created. My customers motivate me greatly. They are constantly asking for new products to replace the ones they purchase from other companies, and the level of trust they have in me and my company is enough to push me even in the toughest moments as an entrepreneur.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a Toxicologist and a Business owner has been definitely staying in business and being able to do what I love full-time. But also, on another note, having the Dr. Oz show call me in 2019 to be a Toxicology expert on the show solidified my belief and confidence in myself while also helping to get my name out there.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
For me, as a homeschooling mom and an entrepreneur, time management is probably my biggest challenge.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The first tip would be to make sure your product/service is one that serves the good of humanity. Right now, the world is shifting, and we all need as much "goodness" as possible to add to the light in the world to shift the balance. The second tip would be to make sure that your business is not money-driven but passion-driven. Don't do it to make money. Make sure it's something you would do whether you are struggling or wealthy and that it is something that truly comes from your heart. People don't care about the product as much as they care about the energy behind it. The third tip would be to give yourself grace. The first few months/years will be challenging, and it will be important to be not only patient with your business but also patient with yourself.
