What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is World Honey Market. We are a commercial apiary and are proud to harvest and distribute the highest quality, pure raw honey from around the globe. We are committed to protecting the honeybee while teaching and promoting sustainable beekeeping and offering solutions to the massive issues that honeybees face globally. Our customers are people who value all-natural, quality products.

Tell us about yourself

I have always loved insects. I wanted to pursue entomology before I even knew there was a word for it. The study of bugs has always been a point of interest for me. When I was in middle school, I convinced my dad to let me skip school to buy my first bee hive, and I have never looked back. I have grown the company from one single hive to more than 4,000 at peak season, and we provide pollination services across the United States and sell and ship our honey worldwide.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is watching the company grow and build a team who is just as passionate about the company's vision as I am.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In a lot of ways, bees are like little tiny livestock. They are a living, breathing commodity, and pesticides and mites are extremely dangerous to them. Hive loss is one of the hardest things anyone in this profession faces, and we are no exception.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be passionate about what you do. Don't be afraid to fail. Build a good team.
