Berkeley's Only Remote Work Club - WorkBistro
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Adam Goldstein, Founder and CEO of WorkBistro, Inc., located in Berkeley, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a flexible workspace and community space for remote workers in the suburbs. We create beautiful spaces that are incredible for daytime working and after-hours events and cost a fraction of other coworking spaces.
Tell us about yourself
I have worked in startups for over five years and have outfitted over 2.5 million square feet of workspace in that time. I'm deeply passionate about having a dedicated workspace to go to that is outside of the home and highly productive.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Launching our first location in 8 business days and for less than $50k. Additionally, we have generated enough revenue to open our first flagship location.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Mentally preparing yourself to show up each day and move the business forward. The journey is incredibly lonely and can be a daunting task. Knowing that no matter what is happening, there is always a path forward keeps me motivated every day.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Learn on someone else's dime before you go out and start your own business.
- Start out as a side gig, don't jump off the deep end and quit a job (or not get one) to start your own thing. Getting to cash flow takes time, and you need to have security to be effective.
- Be patient. It's a cliche, but success does not happen overnight, and you will need to show up every day in order to move the needle just a little bit.
