What's your business and who are your customers?
We are a group fitness studio where we specialize in ALIGNMENT not only in BODY but in life balance. Our studio is a COMMUNITY-based model where we get to KNOW our students and our staff. We host retreats, workshops, and make a strong effort to allow our clients to be SEEN in this community. We also have an adorable retail boutique both in-studio and online (vanceyapparel.com)
Tell us about yourself
I'm a mom of three and an entrepreneur at heart. A die-hard people person, I LOVE encouraging, empowering, and connecting with women. While my business is focused on physical fitness (that's what brought me here - I have been teaching fitness classes since I was 16), it's ultimately about so much more than that. It's about encouraging women to adopt HEALTH as an avenue to LIVE THEIR LIVES in the way that they want to....using their bodies as a VEHICLE TO LIVE INSIDE OF rather an something that can potentially hinder them from what they want to do. I am FIERCELY passionate about lifting, loving, and shining light on women.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Surviving the COVID 19 pandemic with minimal damage to our bottom line and community. We have had almost zero staff turnover in 6 years and we continue to sell out our retreats within a matter of days of launching. I am so proud of this community and feel lucky to be a part of it.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Surround yourself with the RIGHT PEOPLE. Your team will be imperative in your success. Never underscore the importance of your team and SHOW THEM GRATITUDE EVERY DAY. Don't be afraid to say you don't know. Ask for help from the other business owners you know around you. You're not expected to know everything yet. Commit to always learning.
If there was one thing you could do repeatedly to help grow your business, what would it be?
SPEAK IN FRONT OF AND OUT LOUD to groups, potential customers, and women in the community. Podcasts, women's groups, etc. Guest speak and teach at events and share the love of movement.
What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance?
I write out my entire day every morning when I wake up. It helps me to focus, keep myself on time and focused. I also shut off my phone and don't pick it back up when my kids get off the bus until after dinner. They deserve my time and I need their snuggles to remind me that business is not the most important thing in my life.
