What's your business, and who are your customers?

Wonder Crate is a book subscription box that inspires kids ages 7-11 to dream big, one great role model at a time.

Tell us about yourself

My own kids were feeling helpless and anxious about things happening in the world around them. I decided to show them all the amazing people using their courage, perseverance, and passion for making the world a better place. I will never forget taking them to their first march and showing them that a group of passionate people can make a difference. What an empowering experience! Once they started focusing on the “helpers’, their anxiety started to fade away. And now, I want to share these stories with the rest of the world. I want all kids to know that they can make an impact. Each child has his or her own amazing that they can contribute to the world. And together, we can build a generation of well-rounded contributors of social good.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To still be in business after 5 years and with a pandemic thrown into the mix.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

That you constantly have to learn new things and figure out new problems. No two days are ever the same. It is also my favorite part of being a business owner, but sometimes it can be overwhelming.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

It is more of a marathon than a sprint, so be patient.
Have a clear picture of your goals because it is easy to get distracted.
Build a network of people you can reach out to for advice.
