What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm the owner of Wise Whisper LLC, a career training company that offers keynotes, e-courses, books, and podcast episodes focused on fulfillment, self-discovery, and career clarity. I'm also a private coach helping those who struggle in getting clear on their next career move, as well as coaching TED speakers and changemakers on booking, writing, and delivering the best speech of their life.

Tell us about yourself

I worked in counterterrorism in my early 20s, and after noticing very minimal women at the table, I started my business as a tool to help ambitious women be intentional and authentic in their careers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My book, YOU TURN: Get Unstuck, Discover Your Direction, Design Your Dream Career... It just hit the bestseller charts in Asia, and I am so proud people are reading it!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Sustainability when you need a break!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure your business uses your gifts and core skill set-- being someone else is not sustainable.
  2. The concept of the business matters, but how you spend your day is very much so in the tasks and responsibilities. Make sure you're willing to take on the "other" work that comes with the business.
  3. Not everyone is meant for entrepreneurship-- it comes down to your relationship with financial security and freedom.
