Tell us about yourself
I am an entrepreneur who has a passion for helping others save time and money. After more than 30 years of experience in the corporate world, I have dedicated myself to helping others automate their tasks and processes in order to run their business more efficiently. By doing so, I hope to help people focus on what matters most to them - their passions and goals.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As a business and systems process automation expert with over 30 years of experience in programming, developing complete systems from the ground up, and even developing sales and marketing automation, I can tell you that the greatest sense of accomplishment I get as a business owner is when the light bulb turns on in my customer's head when they realize all the different things I can do to help them in their business. I've had some big accomplishments in the corporate world, like developing the Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) system for the airline industry and developing the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for a major telecommunications company back in 2001. I've created automation for a global oil and gas company that ended up saving them 5 million dollars every month, and that was just one project I did for them. However, with all of that, I would still have to say it is the light bulb moment because then the potential for greatness is unlimited.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
As a business owner, you wear many hats. You are responsible for the success or failure of your business, so it is important to be knowledgeable in all areas of business. However, you cannot be an expert in everything. That is why it is important to delegate tasks and automate processes. This allows you to focus on your area of expertise and grow your business. Another challenge business owners face getting bogged down in details. This can happen when you let things go too far, and your process becomes messy. It is important to get organized and streamline your process to make your business more efficient. By following these tips, you can overcome common challenges business owners face and be successful in running your own business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Growing a successful business takes focus and dedication. There are many different elements that need to come together in order for a business to thrive, but there are a few key tips that can make all the difference. First and foremost, it is essential to know your customer. Who are you trying to reach with your product or service? What are their needs and wants? The better you understand your target market, the easier it will be to create a marketing strategy that resonates. Secondly, it is important to stay focused on one thing. When you try to do too many things at once, you spread yourself thin and end up losing sight of your main goal. It is much better to choose one thing that you do well and stick with it.
Third and finally, learn each part of your business, document it, and then automate it. Many people think that automation is something that should happen after the business is already up and running. However, automation is actually essential to the success of any business. By automating key processes, you can free up your time to focus on more important tasks, such as marketing and sales. Even in the case of marketing and sales, you can automate most of that. In addition, automating mundane or repetitive tasks can help to improve efficiency and accuracy. Finally, by documenting your business processes, you can create a valuable resource for training new employees or for reference in case of problems. Ultimately, automation is essential to owning a successful business. Without it, you may find one day that you don't own your business, but rather, your business owns you.
