It's Time to Live Wild and Well! - Wild Woods Wellness
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Danette Polzin, Owner of Wild Woods Wellness, located in Creston, BC, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I independently own and operate Wild Woods Wellness. My customers are folks seeking spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical healing and growth. I offer massage and energy sessions, personal wellness products, women's circles, and other transformational classes, workshops, and events. I strive to bridge mind, body, and soul with earth and spirit to help others live wild and well.
Tell us about yourself
My own personal transformation led me to start my business. I went through an incredible inner healing and expansion that entirely changed my life, and it inspired me to help others who are looking to uplift their lives on every level. I made the impossible possible in my life and am here to help others do the same. Seeing this work's benefit on my clients and followers and witnessing their growth and transformation motivates me to keep going—that and knowing that this is both my passion and my purpose.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Starting my business in the first place and sticking with it! Going independent and starting my own business was a huge step for me, especially as a recently divorced single mom when I first started out. It happened in stages, and there were a lot of rough patches and timeouts. There were times that I felt like quitting, but I persevered, and all of that is an accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Equally, one of the hardest and best things about being a business owner is that it all comes down to you. There is no outside sense of security, no consistent pay cheques or hours. You have to show up even at times when you don't feel like it, and when times are tough, you're the one that has to take the lead. It's all on you, which is both beautiful and challenging.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Lead with your heart. Always. Your heart knows what's best and will always lead you in a better way than your ego.
- Listen to your intuition. Always. All the best thinking, strategizing, planning, and researching aside, your intuition is your most valuable tool.
- Break outside of the norms and corporate boxes. You will receive a never-ending onslaught of offers for branding and marketing, five steps for success, organizational strategies, how to gain 50,000 followers, and every tip, trick, and must-do under the sun. Don't be afraid to say no and do it your way. When you follow those first two points, leading from your heart and listening to your intuition, you'll know the best way to lead your business, it may be completely outside of the mainstream, and it likely won't involve formulas and gimmicks.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
We're in a paradigm shift not just in business but in the whole world. The collective consciousness is changing, and this world needs more business owners and leaders who reflect this shift, who lead with their hearts and care about humanity and the planet rather than pursue profits at all costs. Conscious, heart-centered businesses are the way of the future.
