Why Winning Matters - with Shawnee Harle
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey by launching a coaching and fitness business, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Shawnee Harle of Winning Matters, based in Vernon, BC Canada.
What's your business and who are your customers?
I help athletes of all ages gain a competitive edge, get selected to their dream team, earn that scholarship, and compete with COURAGE and CONFIDENCE when it matters most. And because it takes a village, I also work with their parents.
Tell us about yourself
After I choked on the biggest day, the biggest stage of my life as an Assistant Coach at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, I went back to the drawing board and deciphered my choking.
I knew that what I learned could help people do the opposite: show up with courage and confidence when it matters most. Success is not an accident and neither is failure. However, my antidote to choking is very unpopular because we must face three, big F words: Fake, Fear, Feel.
Sport teaches us to "FAKE it till you make it." It tells us to deny FEAR and avoid how we FEEL." If that's the case, how in the world can we ever become emotionally intelligent and self-aware? How can we bravely show up when we are hiding?
To reach the podium we must learn to Win From Within.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My group coaching program called Fear to FIERCE. It's my biggest accomplishment because we do heart work. Why heart work? Because that's where the truth is; and the truth shall set you free.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I'm self taught and I'm a one woman band. Learning curve is steep and way too many instruments to play!
What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
1) Hire a great business coach.
2) Hire someone to do the tasks you're not good at or hate to do.
3) Keep your eyes on the prize, especially on the days when it's cloudy:)
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
The podium awaits and the most important podium is the Podium of Life.
Where can people find you and your business?
