What Makes You An Athlete For Life - Ashley Soro
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fitness and nutrition, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ashley Soro, the founder of Lifestyle and Fitness. Ashley is a personal trainer, online fitness, and nutrition coach from California, USA.
Tell us all about your business...
I am an in-person personal trainer and online fitness and nutrition coach. My customers are high-achieving women over 40 who are looking to shed years of shame around food without over-training. Connecting with clients and truly understanding why previous programs haven't worked for them is important to me.
What's your background and motivation to get into the solopreneur life?
I have always been in the coaching/training space as I played soccer for over 20+ years and coached teams and privately trained young female players. This eventually morphed into personal training and coaching women. I believe every woman should enjoy the food she eats while loving the way she feels and looks. I spent years hiding in shame, and I know many women still do it today. I am on a mission to change that as much as I possibly can.
As a business owner, what does success ultimately mean to you?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is working extremely hard in my meal prep business and being in the process of opening up an entirely new location!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Oof. A lot... but feeling like I can never keep up :)
What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a business today?
1). Have patience. The best comes with time. That can be applied to anything in life.
2). Be passionate. If you're going to start your own business, you're going to put in so many hours. Make sure it's doing something you love; It doesn't feel like work.
3). Build relationships. You never know who might be a contact down the road. Always be open to connecting to new people and building actual relationships, not just transactions.
Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs and best business resources/books?
Chalene Johnson, Gary Vee. They encourage you to do what you love and be true to who you are. How To Win Friends and Influence People, Think and Grow Rich, Crushing It.
