Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Danielle Edrada, Founder of Wellness Dreams LLC., located in Spring, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I’m in the business of health and wellness. My customers are those who want to improve their overall well-being through yoga and integrative nutrition. I believe that we can prevent and even heal from many diseases of the mind and body with the medicine of movement, nutrition, and meditation.
Tell us about yourself
As a modern medical student, I saw a flaw in our current healthcare system. I wondered why doctors had a quota to meet, and I wondered why many of these medications had so many side effects. Then I remembered my grandmother, who healed my wounds with nothing more than guava leaves and warm water. And after experiencing an eating disorder, terrible digestion, and a lack of immunity, I soon became interested in the health-improving stories of plant-based eating. With these life events, I realized that food could be medicinal in a way. This led me to a more natural way of living, which prompted me to want to become a Yoga Teacher. The funny thing about this is that I actually never stepped foot in a yoga studio before my training. I literally asked myself, “Danielle, why do you want to teach yoga if you’ve never even done it before?” But there was a voice telling me to teach, and my desires were strong beyond any reason. I began my Yoga Teacher Training in the Summer of 2019, and I finished before the end of the year. A few months later, I also got certified to be an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. My business started when I decided to help others with their health without the added side effects. I want to help others feel safe, realize their own beauty, and be gentle with themselves. My goal is to lead my clients through a safe, educational, and inspiring experience that will leave them feeling rejuvenated, empowered, and fulfilled. My motivation to do what I do is to see my clients be their best versions - this is how we can create a better world.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Honestly, I think everything is an accomplishment. I would have never thought I could own a business. The biggest accomplishment, I say, is having the feeling that I love every minute of what I do, and there’s always a feeling of fulfillment in serving the community in this way.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
There is always a hump at the beginning. But you never know until you try.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find what you’re passionate about and ask what the world needs. Make your business a combination of these things.
- If you truly love what you do, regardless of how much money you make, people will see that, and the right ones will come to you.
- Your area may be saturated, but you’re the only one, and your uniqueness can only improve the diversity of the market.
