Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jennifer Lehr, Owner of WeConcile, located in Olga, WA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I have developed an app to help couples transform their relationships. Imagine going from mediocre or conflict-filled to feeling safe and connected in your romantic relationship. This app will help individuals and couples who need more tools and relational understanding. Anybody who is open to growing and who wants to make their life and relationship better can benefit from this app. You have a database of assistance at your fingertips. And the cost for a year is less than two therapy sessions.
Tell us about yourself
I had a difficult relational beginning. Our family had a lot of issues. I began to focus on healing my own issues and eventually became a therapist and a couples specialist. I struggled in my first marriage, and I was working with a lot of couples who were also struggling. I realized people need more help in their relationships and began to learn more and more about what helps couples succeed. I am in a great 2nd marriage. Every day I am motivated to inspire others to learn what I learned and make the changes I made. We can all have great relationships. We just have to learn how.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Tackling the challenges of starting a business and of developing an online program and then an app has changed me. I have become stronger, smarter, and braver. Being a business owner has enabled me to grow as I tackled each challenge I encountered and encounter.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
It can be scary to put yourself out there as well as spend money on something you believe in, but that hasn't fully manifested yet. And it is a lot of work. I tend to work seven days a week.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Know that starting, running, and growing a business is a journey. You will become more. You will develop aspects of yourself that you may know nothing about and develop potentials that you do not know you have.
- Be prepared for all kinds of setbacks. There are always setbacks. You can't let them derail you. You have to keep going. You have to hold onto your vision and persevere.
- Research what others are doing in the field you want to start your business in. How are you unique? What will you do differently? And make sure you have the expertise you need to do what you want to do or get it.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Starting a business is hard work. But it is also empowering. I love working for myself. I love that I've stepped out of a smaller version of myself into a larger one!
