What's your business, and who are your customers?

WealthAbility® is a leading financial education company that is dedicated to providing access to the tools, education, and teams that will enable all people worldwide to create their own financial independence. We make tax planning easy, understandable, and even fun!

Our proven system empowers entrepreneurs and investors to permanently reduce their taxes. We’re also deeply focused on building a systematic approach for CPAs to put their clients first. Tell us about yourself

I am a CPA, CEO of WealthAbility®, and author of two best-selling books: Tax-Free Wealth and The Win-Win Wealth Strategy. I started my own practice in March 1995 and have been a passionate entrepreneur ever since. In 2001, we acquired a CPA practice, and one of the clients was Robert Kiyosaki. That led to a great business and personal relationship that continues today.

Today, I’m best known for making taxes fun (yes, that is possible!), easy (also possible), and understandable. I believe strongly in personal freedom and that everyone deserves to be financially independent of employers, Wall Street, and the government, and that motivates everything that I do. I love working with entrepreneurs and investors and with like-minded CPAs who are interested in transforming the accounting profession.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Every client has significantly reduced their taxes. The ability to teach entrepreneurs how to reduce or eliminate their taxes legally is my greatest success.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Moving from a small business to a large business. We originated as a small CPA firm and now have over 200 tax professionals in our network who work with over 10,000 entrepreneurs and investors.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be curious. My mother used to say that there are 50,000 solutions to any problem, and we probably only thought of three. When you stay curious, you discover lots of alternatives in any situation.
  2. Put people first. People are the single biggest key to growing and scaling a business. When you focus on your clients and your team, the rest tends to fall into place.
  3. Reduce your taxes. The fastest and easiest way to increase your cash flow as an entrepreneur is to reduce your taxes. The government offers tons of incentives to business owners in the form of tax deductions, and credits work with your CPA to create the right strategy for you and your business.
