Create the Ideal You - Wayfinder Fitness
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Randy Maale, Owner of Wayfinder Fitness, located in Palm City, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Fitness is a journey, and I have dedicated myself to being your guide. I founded Wayfinder Fitness to be a leader in living a fit life. From weight training, HIIT, or Crossfit through proper nutrition, I am focused on creating proper training and realistic nutrition habits. We are at our best when we move! My job is to be your habit coach as we create the best you.
Tell us about yourself
I began my fitness journey when I joined the police academy at 20 years old. Back then, fitness was survival. Strength and conditioning allowed me to be my best at my job. In 2009 I was chosen to attend the FBI National Academy, where I learned a whole new version of the training, Cross Fit! My entire philosophy of fitness was transformed.
It became my mission to bring functional fitness and overall health to everyone I could. Now, I design and create tough yet fun workouts for my clients. I work with my clients to help them realize their potential and live their best life. My clients are both in person and online, and we work on all things, including exercise, fitness, and nutrition.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
After retiring from law enforcement, I re-imagined my life around the one thing I loved more than anything else, fitness. I have created a successful business based on a simple model, do what you love and love what you do! Sharing my joy with others through fitness has transformed my life and the lives of my clients. I now have to thrive in person and online fitness business.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Finding a niche can be the most challenging aspect of the online or in-person fitness industry. As you begin your journey, you must find out who your ideal client is and focus all your efforts on that area. For me, I have found that women between 30 and 55 years old who have some experience with training yet need a trainer to be their guide is my niche. What's yours? Find it, focus on it and live it.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Do what you love! And tailor that to a market that statistically is growing. The biggest thing I learned is just because you love it, doesn't mean everything else will, so do your homework. Examine market trends and tailor your offer to an area with significant growth potential.
Second, solid, well-designed marketing is key to success. Eyes on target are key to securing new clients. Do not be afraid to ask for help or hire an assistant to help with content creation and placement.
Lastly and concurrently, off-load any task that does not directly contribute to cash inflows. It's easy to get bogged down in the daily grind of tasks. The task does not create profit. Do not be afraid to hire a virtual assistant if you can maximize your time focused on making a profit!
