Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Wayne Ackerman, CFO of Voyager Global Mobility, located in Brooklyn, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

VGM is a global leader providing gig economy drivers with safe and reliable vehicles on a weekly basis to drive for Uber, Lyft, Didi, and other transportation network companies.

Tell us about yourself

I joined the company in 2019, excited by the prospect of having near unlimited customer demands and an unusually high unlevered internal rate of return on each vehicle deployed.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building an infrastructure to allow our customer access to vehicles that permit them to develop their own income stream is very rewarding. In addition to supporting our demographic, the company has a first-mover advantage and has the opportunity to be "the" global leader in the fragmented space.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Hiring post-COVID remains challenging as well as engaging employees amid stiff competition for their talent.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Have a greater purpose, pay to surround yourself with the best people, and make long-term decisions, even if they are hard.
