We Put Your Money to Work - Voyage Investing

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amanda Cruise, director of analytics & investor relations of Voyage Investing, located in Wake Forest, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We allow investors to own real estate passively without the hassle of finding assets, facilitating the purchase, and managing tenants. Our expertise is in finding the right assets and adding value to them to create amazing returns for our investors. This allows everyday individuals to grow their wealth through real estate without ever taking a tenant call.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a wife and mom who had a pretty traditional upbringing. I graduated from college in 2008 with a chemistry degree and then earned a master's in Applied Statistics while working as an operations analyst. In 2017 I was climbing the ladder at a large credit card company and realized I wanted to build something on my own. After absorbing tons of information, I bought my first investment real estate and grew from there. I love working with investors and showing them the predictable, reliable returns that can be achieved through real estate investing without them having to do the work.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The biggest accomplishment I've had in business is getting (literally) infinite returns on a mobile home park asset after adding value to the property and then refinancing to pull all of the initial investment out while the cash is flowing.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest part about being a business owner in real estate is saying no to good investments. We see good investment opportunities all the time. We hold out for great opportunities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Here is some advice I'd give to someone looking to start a business:

  1. You'll feel like you're working so hard and not going anywhere but keep it up anyways, as growing a business is worth the emotional torture in the end.
  2. Make sure to schedule thinking time and learning time throughout the week, even when it seems like there aren't enough hours in the day. Exposing yourself to what others are doing and to different points of view is critical to shaping your business.
  3. Connect with other business owners. Not just for business sake, but truly connect with them. You'll gain lifelong friends with wicked smart ideas.
