Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Michele Olivari, Owner of Virtual Excellence online, located in Chandler, AZ, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Virtual Excellence online - helping businesses and individuals with day-to-day admin tasks.
Tell us about yourself
Working in various industries for 20 years, I came to realize my passion is admin. Creating sheets, documents, templates, and designs from the info I receive. In 2018 being full-time employed, I started my first Virtual Assistant (VA) business after hours and soon realized I could do this full-time. Shortly thereafter, I started working for a new company, and life happened. My dream was put on hold.
In early 2022 my husband and I moved from South Africa to the USA, and I had another opportunity to start my VA business. I take great pleasure in the idea that I can work remotely with people all over the world. The gratification of helping entrepreneurs and business owners achieve their goals by taking care of their admin tasks is my driving force.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is a sense of ownership. I made a decision to dive into the unknown, try something new and make a success of it. I find joy in helping others, and I'm always interested in what my clients need so I can upskill myself and provide clients with the best possible service. A positive mindset has the power to transform everything, your thoughts, actions, and life. Acting on a dream takes courage, determination, and believing in yourself. Create clear goals and take consistent action to make the dream a reality. Bringing a dream to life is a big accomplishment and also has the power to inspire and impact others.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is making yourself vulnerable and revealing your thoughts, feelings, and abilities to people. And learning to accept rejection and the feeling of failure as part of the process and not get discouraged.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- We live in a fast-paced and constantly evolving world. It is important to be adaptable and flexible in your thinking and behavior and be open to new ideas and approaches.
- Network and building relationships are essential to professional growth as it creates opportunities, stimulate connections, and expand your circle of influence.
- Believe in yourself and your abilities. Confidence helps you to take risks and try new things. There will always be challenges and setbacks, but never give up.
