What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help crafters and small business owners at every stage of their creative journey. Vinyl Decal School has tonnes of resources, content, and classes for anyone who wants to make, apply or sell Vinyl Decals, as well as learn how to use a craft cutting machine or run a small business.

Tell us about yourself

In 2017 I quit my job as a Recruitment Consultant because I wanted to do something a bit more creative. I just wasn't sure what! I tried all sorts of things like web designing, writing, and calligraphy, but it wasn't until I came across the world of Cricut and decals that I actually found something that stuck. I opened an Etsy shop and started making decals for wedding signs, and grew that business into a full-time job. Then, once the pandemic hit, I had a bit more downtime, so I decided to start teaching others how to do what I do, and that's how Vinyl Decal School was born. I now create a variety of helpful TikTok and Youtube videos, blog posts, classes, and digital designs, all with the focus of helping others reach their crafting or small business goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Hearing from people that my content and resources have helped and inspired them to start their own businesses.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Having to wear so many hats and figure things out for yourself. It can get exhausting, but it's definitely worth the challenge.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Really get to know who your customers are and what they want, and develop products with them in mind.
2. Set boundaries and learn how to say no to things.
3. Keep learning! There's always room to grow.
