What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am primarily a Portrait, Pinup, and Boudoir Photographer with a specialty in Vintage Styling. I also shoot Modern styles, including Fashion and Commercial work. The session can be in the Studio or Outdoors / On-Location. My clients are primarily women, and I focus not only on creating beautiful photographs but also providing an Empowering and Exciting Experience throughout the process.

Tell us about yourself

I have been enjoying photography for over 50 years but decided to upgrade my skills to a professional level in 2012 to open my current business. My goal each and every time is to have my clients emotionally captivated and excited upon seeing their final images. The reward of making someone feel so confident and happy by creating a photograph - is my motivation.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Personally, I received my Master Photographer Designation in 2022 from the Professional Photographers Of Canada. From a business point of view, the fact that I've been able to have so many satisfied customers over the past ten years of business.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For a photography business, I think it's how many "hats" you have to wear. You need to excel in Photography, Editing, Advertising, Finances, and Client Care to name a few. Having said that, there isn't a day that goes by that it isn't a delight to be doing what I do.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, if you can create a business around something you Love To Do, it will never feel like work. Second, treat your customers like they are the most Special People in the world. With that attitude, you will create a positive environment in your business. The third would be to look after the little details as much as the big ones. It's those small positive differences that can make you Stand Out in the crowd.
