What's your business, and who are your customers?

Case Specific Meal Prep wants to help you be healthy by removing barriers. There are no subscriptions or need to put a credit card on file; order how much and when you want! Our meals are created by our team of Registered Dietitians and prepared by our head chef with over ten years of culinary experience. These meals come fresh and ready to eat each week; all you need to do is heat them up!

Tell us about yourself

I spent ten years in the non-profit world helping those that did not have the support to reach their health goals. Being able to work with people that wanted to be healthy for themselves and their families but were not able to because of barriers like money, time, access, or healthcare was not acceptable to me. Since leaving that world and starting my own business, we have also started the Chronic Disease Health Alliance, which is meant to support those who need help with education, chronic disease, and food. With our teams at Case Specific Nutrition, Case Specific Meal Prep, and programs like Diabetes Prevention, I hope to share health and wellness with Pittsburgh!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been running a business on my own for three years. It has been a roller-coaster of up and down each and every week, but it has also been a learning experience I would not change!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner (especially coming from the corporate world) is that you no longer have managers, directors, and executives to go to with ideas and concerns. Everything is now on you, and you need to figure them out to survive.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. This is not a quick process; you must give the time, energy, and money required to grow.
  2. Find high-level staff for every position. Having staff, you can count on is more valuable than anything!
  3. Create a group of like-minded friends/colleagues that you can meet with monthly. This group can be the thing that brings you to the next level of business.
