Eco Home Organizer - Victoria Willard
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Victoria Willard, owner of Organize Design Create, located in Jacksonville, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help busy and overwhelmed families keep the clutter and stress down by creating systems that are custom to their space. My approach is all about using what you have to organize your space. I prefer the most sustainable way. Research says that our spaces are often a reflection of our minds. Knowing this, I aim to shift your mindset to a place of being free of clutter and living a more organized life. Your job is to manifest the results you wish to see while working my magic to affirm your visualizations. My life’s purpose is to curate spaces that serve your higher self while providing you with eco-friendly + sustainable organizing solutions.
Tell us about yourself
My love for organizing started when I became a mom for the second time. By then, I was married and living life as a military spouse far away from my family. My friends were always fascinated by how tidy our home was with two small children. No matter when they would pop by, things just seemed to always be in alignment. Once the third child came, my friends were even more impressed with our home. They were begging me to share the “secret sauce.” I told them many times that there was no “secret sauce.” We still laugh about that phrase.
They really started to side-eye me when the twins were born. They made numbers four and five, and things were still tidy. They are the people who encouraged me to do Home Organization as a business! The more that I thought about it, I realized there really was no “secret sauce,” but it actually is a series of systems that I had been using over the years.
So, when I started organizing Professionally, I kept in mind that this is a journey, and it’s the main reason I take a more holistic approach with my clients. This means that I not only work with the space, but I get to the root of the disorganization, which sometimes reaches clients on a deeper, more intimate level. I focus on taking a heart-centered approach when working with clients while keeping healthy boundaries.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
One of my biggest accomplishments as a business owner is that I’ve never gotten lost in my business. As a parent, I’ve learned to balance my business and my personal life so that I can give my family the very best version of myself each day.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner for me is knowing when to turn it off. Remember that I’m not a machine, and it’s ok to turn off work mode and relax in my own well-organized space.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Keep great records.
- Price yourself accordingly.
- Don’t give up during your slow seasons.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
One thing I tell all my customers is to never compare your space to someone else’s.
