What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a mobile Makeup Artist, and my ideal client is anyone who wants to sit in my chair and glam them to the gods. My goal is to make everyone feel as beautiful as they look.

Tell us about yourself

I've loved makeup my whole life. I can remember when I used to sneak it because I wasn't allowed to wear it until high school. I put my dreams aside to raise my two children, but now that they are pretty much grown, I have time to invest in myself and my passion. I did makeup for family and friends unprofessionally for so long until I found my school Glam Sophisticated, which not only gave me more skills in my trade but also taught me how to start and run my business. I graduated in December of 2021, and I have been growing ever since.

My passion is my motivation. I love seeing that WOW look on someone's face when I am done with their glam. It's what I strive for to make everyone feel as beautiful as they really are.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting my business has been the biggest thus far. Taking that leap of faith and diving into my passion.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Not being your own worst critic. I am a perfectionist by default, and I sometimes have to stop myself and give myself a pat on the back for the best job that I do.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Breathe. Sometimes you have to just ride that wave and make it happen.
  2. Be consistent. I've struggled with that, and I am now getting on the right track.
  3. WORK. It doesn't come easy. If you want it, you need to put in that work.
