What's your business, and who are your customers?

Your living space is important to me. My role is to deliver you the most pleasant, functional, and enjoyable living space possible. You've worked hard - you deserve it. A beautiful, enjoyable living space does not happen by coincidence - it results from extraordinary creativity, rigorous design, careful planning, and disciplined project execution. Your living space is unique to you - your lifestyle, your tastes, and your surroundings. I take tremendous pride in working closely with my clients to realize their unique vision of what a beautiful living space means to them.

I am an experienced and knowledgeable art consultant, collector, and critic. I am very well-versed in the world of art of all forms and frequently visit art galleries across Canada, USA, and Europe. I am a trained artist and have formally taught arts at the college level. I am a member of Arts Consultants Canada/Consultants canadiens en arts (ACCA). I am also a highly skilled interior designer, and I often combine these two skills to present art within beautiful and appealing living spaces for my clients, both residential and commercial. Our services to discerning clients include Residential Design, Retirement and Hospitality Design, Project Coordination, Art Procurement and Placement, and Materials Procurement.

Tell us about yourself

I am a curator of the good life. I have a passion for quality, beauty, and functionality in every form. I want to fill my life and the lives of those around me with quality. I believe that quality friendships, quality experiences, and quality things make life beautiful.

Three important factors have taken me to the place I am today.

  1. My love of art and design - I studied design.
  2. My interest in real estate - I bought my first property at 18. As a real estate investor, I've purchased, renovated, and sold over 50 properties of my own.
  3. My entrepreneurial spirit - I have several businesses and have enjoyed building them.

I am motivated by my passion for quality, beauty, and functionality and by my entrepreneurial.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating beautiful, functional, quality interiors is my art and passion. Co-creating with my clients is very rewarding for me. I love the design process and the way I get to know my client's needs and desires for their space and then oversee the creation of it for them. The realization of each project is the most wonderful experience. To be able to walk in, through, and around the art that I imagined, designed, and created is the most rewarding experience. I have been very fortunate to have been able to work with exceptional people on exceptional projects.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, there are far more wonderful things about being a business owner than there are difficulties. I would say that time management, focus, and maintenance of quality are the most difficult parts of being a business owner. I have trained myself and the people I work with to be highly organized and efficient with time, to block time in the calendar to do uninterrupted work, and to develop systems for storing information and processes for doing our work. Consistent quality, clarity, and focus are key to business success.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be clear on your goals for your business and what will be non-negotiable for you - what you are unwilling to compromise on in your business before you start.
  2. Focus on partnering up with others who respect and hold your goals and ideals for your business.
  3. Focus on quality, not on making money, and money will come to you.
