What's your organization, and who are your members?

Via Mobility Services is a para transit, scheduled transit, and on-demand shuttle transit business. Via Mobility Services is a non-profit company founded in 1978. We serve those who require a bit of extra time in getting to their non-emergency medical appointments, the grocery store, or any quality-of-life engagement. Via also provides municipal and regional transit and has a robust Sustainability plan for the company.

Tell us about yourself

I have been CEO of Via Mobility Services for over 6 years and have served on the board of directors for 7. Prior to my service with Via, I served as a city manager, a vice chancellor for the University of Colorado Boulder, and several other leadership roles.

What's your biggest accomplishment as an organization?

Building a team of leaders--who are experts in their own fields and come together to advance our common mission. This is difficult to achieve and requires ongoing collaboration.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being an organization?

These days it is by far finding people who share the passion for the mission and the desire to work hard to innovate.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow an organization today?

Be clear about your intentions, understand the field you are working in, or attempting to break into, and identify meaningful factors that differentiate your approach.
