What's your business, and who are your customers?
The business that I just recently started is a consulting business that specializes in leadership and wellness coaching. We also offer educational services in accreditation, curriculum, instruction, and leadership. We customize professional learning to support the client and specific needs. A special offering is a two-day leadership retreat for work teams wanting to intentionally focus on decision-making skills, difficult conversations, and improving the positive impact their team can make within the organization.
Tell us about yourself
I have been an educator for 30-plus years. The roles that I have held always included providing guidance, support, and professional learning for others. This has become a passion, and helping others achieve their full potential has always been very motivating throughout my career.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has simply been getting my marketing strategy finalized and off the ground. Not having a lot of experience in this area has created many challenges, yet having those first clients due to the marketing strategies was a great feeling.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing for me is finding time to build relationships with my clients. As a coach, this is a critical component of our work. Relationships are often tricky and require time to build. Clients are busy. Flexibility becomes important in scheduling for the team to be successful.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find someone to support you through the process. This could even be a coach!
- Utilize the expertise of those who have started their own businesses before you.
- Take time to enjoy the journey and celebrate the successes!
