Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Greg Vetter, Owner of Vetter Productivity, located in Sandy Springs, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I teach people my organizational system called A Vetter Way®, which I created back in the late '80s when there wasn't really much of an organizing industry. It allows them to find and store their information in fewer than 5 seconds and teaches them a system of how to work from an Important rather than an Urgent focus. I generally can save my clients 2 hours a day which they use in a QT or Quiet Time, working on their top 5 critical tasks uninterrupted. A rarity today, to put it mildly.

Tell us about yourself

My education was in Psychology, and my work background was in Sales, Construction, Restaurants, and Counseling. I liked work processes and work systems. My thought was to use the same principles that were utilized on an assembly line in an office area to greatly increase productivity. Unlike my four other careers, I could actually change someone's life in a fairly significant way. How many jobs can allow you to do that?

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Coaching over 150 Coca-Cola executives and employees one on one in 15 years, plus consulting in their syrup plants. Pretty neat stuff. The second is having a registered trademark for A Vetter Way®.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

If you are alone, you do not have the benefit of hearing another person's business advice. It is wise to find a mentor and join a professional group of your peers to use as a sounding board.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Tip 1. Your first priority is Sales.
Tip 2. Your second priority is Sales.
Tip 3. Your third priority is Sales.
Production minus Sales = Scrap. If you don't sell it, your business goes bye-bye. The key is always having money flowing in and plenty of cash on hand.
