Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey by launching a yoga business, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christine Jaureguiberry owner of Yogaberry. Christine is also a podcast host and content creator based in London, England UK.

Tell us all about your business...

I'm a yoga teaching specialized in working with people who have scoliosis or spinal fusion. I'm helping holistically manage their scoliosis so that they feel empowered, in control, and confident about their bodies.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a solopreneur?

I came to yoga nearly 20 years ago because I struggled with back pain and scoliosis. I was seeking help from lots of different health practitioners but it was yoga that finally gave me the tools to help myself.

It made such an impact on my life that I decided to train as a yoga teacher to help specifically those that suffer from scoliosis. I love learning about the condition and different approaches and bringing all my own experience and what I learned along the way into my teaching.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Growing my YouTube channel to nearly 20k subscribers, building a successful online yoga business even pre-pandemic when nobody had even heard of zoom!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a solopreneur?

I think the hardest thing for me right now is not having colleagues around and being part of a team! Also knowing that if I don't move my business forward nobody else will do it for me!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?

  1. Don't expect success overnight. If you're passionate about what you do it will come but it might just take a little while. Don't let it bring you down - you've got this!
  2. Choose who you take advice from wisely. Family and friends might not always be the best ones to talk to about your business!
  3. Pick one thing and then commit to it! It can be really difficult when you have lots of ideas. Make a choice, stick for it for at least a certain amount of time and then re-evaluate.

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance and to keep it all together?

I take time for my yoga & meditation practice. I take Sundays off and have at least one phone-free day a week.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The best thing about being self-employed is that you can choose how you spend your day! You are in control of how much or how little you want to work and which tasks you do yourself and which ones you give to someone else! As a mum of two the freedom I have as a solopreneur has been invaluable. I can work when I want and dedicate the rest of my time to the well-being of my family which is the most important thing for me.
