Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Riyaz Khair, Co-Founder of Ventrify, located in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Ventrify is a product design, engineering, and manufacturing firm that helps entrepreneurs bring product ideas from concept to market. We take in fledgling ideas and get them through our iterative design process to create products our clients can be proud of.

Then, we work with manufacturing facilities worldwide to bring our clients the highest quality products at competitive prices. Our team is an experienced guide to navigating the complex challenges of physical product businesses.

Our customers are startups and entrepreneurs looking to solve a problem. Still, they don't have the time or expertise in-house to build their physical product. Ventrify is an experienced guide to navigating the complex challenges of physical product businesses.

Tell us about yourself

Initially, I was excited about helping people design and build exciting products. However, what motivates me is making a proven process for product creation that is reliable and repeatable. This will allow us (and our clients) to confidently take on larger, more directed projects that help shape the future of our communities and our world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is persevering through hundreds (maybe thousands) of challenges to build a functioning organization, a small business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is staying focused in facing a thousand minor problems pulling you in different directions.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Talk to someone that's done it or is doing it—make sure it's something you want to do because it's a lot of work.
  2. Before quitting your main job, get things started on the side—set things up and try to do as much as possible to start (don't spend big dollars outsourcing everything right off the bat).
  3. Learn to prioritize: you will have hundreds of things that need your attention, so you need to be ruthless with your time.
