Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in events services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lynn Dilloo, Co-Founder of Vegas Events and More, located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Vegas Events and More supports local small business owners by hosting small business and craft events throughout the Las Vegas valley. Our customers vary in age and enjoy shopping in small rather than at the big box stores.

Tell us about yourself

I used to vend for different promoters. I learned the ropes and helped three of the larger ones with their events. Over time, I noticed that their focus turned to be about them and money than helping small businesses succeed. At that time, my husband, Tim, and I talked about taking a leap of faith. He encouraged me to begin our own business. As a licensed promoter, I am proud to bring dignity and respect back to the vendor circuit. I love what I do, and seeing my kids proud of me means so much. As a minority and woman-owned business, Vegas Events and More is making great strides.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I could list the certificates or awards from city and state officials, but that wouldn't be my biggest accomplishment. For me, seeing my local small business owners who vend at my shows grow and succeed is what it is all about. As a business owner, that is what I want to see.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I feel that the hardest thing as a business owner in my field is getting the word out. To vend in my show is very affordable. I'm much less than my competitors, and I don't have a large advertising budget since I keep my fees low, and that makes it hard for me to get my story out there and to get a large audience to know about Vegas Events and More.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The first tip I'd give is to get properly licensed, insured, etc. You have to be a legit business. Next, I'd tell them to stay on task. There will be highs and lows. Gains and losses. However, keep your vision and set your goals. Lastly, I'd tell anyone looking to start, run, or grow a business to not be afraid to ask for help. Whether it is regarding your product, service, social media, etc. NEVER be afraid to ask others for their opinion or expertise. We can all be successful when we work together.
