Take Your Business to a Higher Level - Vector Transformation

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alejandro Villa, founder of Vector Transformation, located in Mexico City, CDMX, Mexico.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Every company has troubles, and even the best in the industry is facing challenges. As a problem-solver, I'm in the business of resolving problems, that's all. However, I cannot solve every problem in every industry. That's why I work with mid-size technology-based firms struggling with their operations.

My goal is straightforward, by the end of the process, my customer must deliver outstanding services and invest the right amount of resources while producing or providing the service.

Tell us about yourself

I began the idea five years ago while I was an employee at that time. And I was frustrated after a meeting with different stakeholders who reported a new issue, and my manager told me:

"Don't get upset. You are a problem solver, and you are very lucky because every company always has problems to resolve. You are one of those who always will be called to resolve the issues they created and can't resolve, but they will never call you to share the good news."

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being so extroverted and participative in networking events, social networks, and launching the podcast, marketing is challenging and takes a lot of time.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Juggling tasks, being responsible for marketing, delivering the service, technical support, administration, some accounting, and everything. The most challenging is everything about marketing, including networking, prospecting, cold calls, podcast, webinar, blogs, and social networks. It's a tremendous amount of work.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find your niche, I did it wrong trying to provide a broad range of services, but that is super hard. Even when qualified, it's complicated.
  2. Get support from family and friends. Climbing every day, from Monday to Sunday, is demanding, and getting help from your loved ones is a huge difference.
  3. Automate or delegate as much as you can. Being a one-person band is challenging. You are at risk of not doing the value-added task while fixing irrelevant matters.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Don't fall in love with your idea. Give yourself permission to evolve the concept and do whatever it takes. Being an entrepreneur is not for weak people; it's a 24-7 job.
