Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Michelle Jewsbury, Founder of Unsilenced Voices, located in Saint Cloud, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am Michelle Jewsbury, an international philanthropist, speaker, author, and coach.
- In August 2016, I focused my efforts on ending domestic violence. My desire to help victims of domestic abuse came from my personal experience in such a relationship.
- In July 2017, I founded Unsilenced Voices, a 501(c)3 nonprofit focused on inspiring change in global communities by encouraging victims to break free and survivors to speak up about domestic violence and sexual assault. I have completed and published my memoir, But I Love Him.
I offer digital courses and private coaching programs to help people overcome challenges and create even more personal and professional success. I have had numerous appearances on talk shows, speaking engagements, and workshops; I have led multiple seminars on the harsh reality of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and trauma; and I have spoken on over 150 stages about overcoming obstacles to achieve even more success. I have been interviewed on major networks, including KTLA5, Good Morning San Diego, CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX. You can find more information here.
Tell us about yourself
Being a survivor, I knew I needed to use my story to help inspire others. I am in constant contact with our Sierra Leone, Rwanda, and Ghana teams. I work with other organizations and survivors in the USA. This is what motivates me each day. To keep going and helping those in need.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Growing Unsilenced Voices to over 6-Figures AND serving my coaching clients through difficulties by teaching them to turn their stories into businesses, missions, and NGOs.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Overnight success is ten years in the making. Staying consistent and persistent is critical, however challenging. Sometimes you want to throw your hands up and say screw it, but knowing some people count on you keeps me going.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just keep swimming.
- Tackle one task at a time.
- Schedule time for self-care.
