Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in leadership coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kerri Roe, founder of Klear Coaching, located in Calgary, Alberta.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is called Klear Coaching. I am a Certified Leadership Coach who partners with individuals to clarify goals, develop self-awareness, and unlock their potential to become engaged and confident leaders. I love working with new managers and managers that are feeling stuck in their roles gain clarity and confidence in how to show up and be the leader they always wanted to be. I provide tailored sessions that address your current challenges, release old ideas, habits, patterns, and perceptual lenses that no longer serve.

Tell us about yourself

I found coaching at a time I was feeling stuck and unmotivated. I planned on using my coaching certification in a future role and instead found my true passion and launched my own business, Klear Coaching. Note: this was also at the start of the pandemic. Before my current role, I spent 20+ years in progressively senior management roles for recognizable national brands like Rogers, MNP, and ATB Financial. I experienced firsthand the frustrations, expectations, and motivations needed to navigate and evolve leadership within an ever-changing workplace. What motivates me is helping others find that clarity, confidence, and support that I needed throughout my career. Being a leader can be lonely and I want to walk beside them as their partner. We could all use a strategic thinking partner that is only there to support us in our personal growth journey.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I launched my business at the start of the world shutting down. I've had my ups and downs and still building a consistent client base. My greatest accomplishment is truly finding a career that lights me up every day. Helping people get where they want to go faster than they could on their own.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest part has been doing this on my own. Connection/Community are core values for me and I enjoy being part of a team. I had not planned on starting my own business so the learning curve has been high.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Plan ahead (look before you leap) and get the information or training you need to create and run a business. Find a support system/community that you can turn to when you need them or support. It takes time, energy, and rarely an overnight success so give yourself the grace of time. Bonus - get a coach to help you quiet that inner critic that can rear its ugly head!

Anything else?

You don't have to be great to start but you have to start to be great. Don't wait until everything is perfect as that rarely comes around.
