What's your business, and who are your customers?
Ultimate Coders is one of the fastest-growing Computer Coding and Robotics program for Kids - SK to Grade 12. Ultimate Coders has created a unique, game-based curriculum and system to meet the needs of the parents while keeping the children engaged in the learning process and building the skills they'll need for the future, including coding, problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork.
Tell us about yourself
Coding promotes creativity, communication, self-discipline, and so many other necessary traits. While I was studying computer science, I used to tutor kids in Math, English, and other school subjects. When I was near the end of my semester, I thought, let's combine the tutoring experience with Computer Science, and that's how Ultimate Coders was made! It is so exciting to watch kids code and make amazing games at such a young age and how much potential they have in them! Watching them gain these excellent skills motivates me every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Starting a startup is easy, executing it is hard, and growing it is harder. While most businesses faced hardships during the 2021 - COVID, it was my biggest professional achievement to increase the capacity of my business. It taught us many new ways to help keep our business growing. Being able to do that during a difficult year is one of the proudest achievements of my career.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
When you're a business owner, you have to be available 24 by 7. Even if you're sick, you still have to answer those business calls and show up for important meetings. Even if you're at a wedding or on vacation, you need to be available when emergencies arise. Other than that, every day, there will be new challenges and obstacles to deal with. Business is never predictable, no matter how prepared you are. Despite all this, it's all worth it in the end!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Research is a key thing when you are looking to start a business. Market research will tell you if there's an opportunity to turn your idea into a successful business.
- Be passionate about what you are starting. That really helps you get going each day!
- Create a strong business plan.
