What's your business, and who are your customers?
UDeserveIT Consulting is a career services consulting firm focused on providing an array of services to jumpstart or advance professionals' careers. Whether new to the workforce or have years of experience, we offer a variety of services to support professionals at every level of their careers: Career Coaching, Resume Writing, Interview Preparation, Job Search Assistance, Salary Negotiations, Outplacement Assistance, and Recruiting as a Service (RaaS).
Tell us about yourself
My name is MarKeisha Snaith, Founder and CEO of UDeserveIT Consulting and Islã Gal. I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. I attended Loyola University Maryland, a private Jesuit University in Baltimore, Maryland, where I received a bachelor's degree in Theology. My background is in philosophy and religion, cybersecurity, and business.
UDeserveIT Consulting was founded in 2020 at the start of COVID to help professionals master the right job-searching strategies and get the jobs they want and the pay they desire. Initially, I had the opportunity to sit in on a cybersecurity boot camp and realized there was no bridge between the course being offered and actually acquiring a technical role. From here, UDeserveIT Consulting was born.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
One of my biggest accomplishments as a business owner has been helping 68 people during the pandemic alone successfully transition into a role in Information Technology (IT).
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Knowing when exactly to scale your business is one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner. As the business grows, it can be difficult to maintain the same level of control and efficiency. Realizing successful business owners do not do everything themselves is important. There comes a time when you have to open yourself and your business up for the help it needs.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Formal business plans are not for everyone.
- Stay the course. Persistence never fails.
- You cannot do business alone. Partnerships are essential.
