What's your business, and who are your customers?
Twisted Goddess Crystals offer hand-selected crystals, handmade crystal jewelry, and hand-sculpted crystal goddesses. Our customers are crystal lovers all over the country!
Tell us about yourself
I have loved the beauty of the crystals that the earth makes since middle school, but being metal sensitive, I wasn't able to wear all of the wire-wrapped crystal jewelry. I began to teach myself the art of micro macrame to make myself metal-free crystal jewelry. I found many others were looking for this too (or just loved the more natural look of cord-wrapped crystals), and it became a business. Some of my jewelry customers began asking if I knew where to get crystals for the home as well, and I began offering beautiful adornments for yourself and your space!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I'm not sure most would consider this an accomplishment, but the community that comes along with the business is the best part. Although I ship all over the country, I have the most amazing local community that supports me. Being able to attend a community gathering and see so many beings wearing my jewelry lights me up every time. I know that feeling will never go away.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Allowing myself to take days off. Being a small one-woman business with no employees, I play so many roles. From inventory, photography, web design, social media marketing, creative, and shipping, it feels as though there is always something to be done.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Most importantly, I would say make sure it is something you love because it's going to be what you spend most of your time on. Second, allow it to grow and expand authentically, and don't be afraid to pivot if needed. Lastly, set boundaries!
