What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our customers largely range from self-employed car detailers and nutritionists to $100m+ manufacturing businesses and everything in-between.

Tell us about yourself

I grew up in an entrepreneurial-minded family. Both of my parents started and owned businesses. Early on in my college years, I knew that working the traditional 9–5 wasn't my dream. I took online courses (in conjunction with my college classes) and tried starting a myriad of different businesses. Each business had failures and learned lessons. Those failures pushed me forward, continually motivating me to keep trying to succeed.

Through my trials and tribulations, I found out what I needed to do in order to succeed. Now, I want to help entrepreneurs who are in the exact same situation that I was in. I see the passion that they have for their business, and I want to see them succeed.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

A few years ago, a 15-year-old from Flint, Michigan, reached out asking for help. He had started a shoe business, buying and selling collectible shoes. He didn't have anyone who could give him guidance, his school didn't teach him basic business competencies, and his single mother couldn't afford pricy online courses.

I made hours of free YouTube videos that were tailored toward the knowledge he so desperately needed. Within a year, this young man's business took off. He partnered with a local shoe store, and his business is now thriving.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

That's a tough question... That depends on where your business is at. In the beginning, you realize that friends and family won't understand why you're doing what you're doing. Why not enjoy your 20s and go have fun with your friends? Why not go get a job? Going against the grain of society can be very taxing.

As your company grows, you will be unable to perform all roles. You need to delegate certain aspects of the business. Learning to trust others with your 'baby' is not easy.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a passion, something that excites you, something that you understand deeply.
  2. Think outside the box. Getting off the ground is the most difficult part. You need to be able to differentiate yourself from the thousands of others who do what you do and have a plan on how to accomplish it.
  3. This is the most important. Be consistent. Starting and launching a business takes time. You will fail hundreds of times. You need to be able to learn from your failures and keep pushing forward.
