What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a green building consulting company, which means we give advice to designers, owners, architects, builders, and building users on how to make more sustainable, environmentally conscious, and healthier buildings. Our customers include developers, architects, real estate, government, and individual companies who want to ensure their buildings are green.
Tell us about yourself
I was very surprised, as a young architectural designer, that fresh air, daylight, and natural materials had left the building. I was inspired to promote health and well-being in the built environment and wanted to help preserve natural resources for future debt generations. Many of us love nature, but the reality is that we spend 90% of our time and doors. I believe that green building provides a better environment for people, connects us with nature, and preserves the environment, which motivates me every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Triple Green has had many accomplishments as a business. We were pioneers and what we do, and we were one of the first to take green building certification to the international market. We’ve trained hundreds of professionals and have certified many ‘first’ green buildings in numerous locations; apart from that, my biggest accomplishment as a business owner is that I found the balance between the bottom line and my freedom to live life.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
More responsibility than I care for personally. Administration, understanding of financing, setting feasible targets, and meeting them. Knowing not to take on too much.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Choose to do something you love and believe in. Get all the professional education and training you can don’t be afraid to take risks.
