Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nicholas Rowley, Founder of Trial Lawyers for Justice, located in Decorah, IA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

National Trial Lawyer who represents ordinary everyday people.

Tell us about yourself

I have always wanted to be a trial lawyer. I would never have had the opportunity had I not enlisted and joined the military at the age of 17. Tuition assistance and the G.I. Bill gave me the opportunity to go to college and then law school.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having a positive impact on the lives of people and getting to the point where I can go toe to toe and take on big corporations, insurance companies, chemical companies, and the government. Being able to change bad laws that restrict civil rights.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Finding time to shut everything off and focus on being a husband and father.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start small and grow slowly. There is no need to rush.
  2. Do not buy anything you can't pay cash for.
  3. No matter what, always be honest and generous and care about others as much as you do yourself.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Love and compassion always win.
