What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is a travel subscription box company. Basically, four times a year, a box packed with items highlighting a different city in the US. The best part?! All of the items included in the boxes are from small and local businesses from that city!
Tell us about yourself
As a full-time leadership consultant, I traveled the world without my family and friends. I would always come back home trying my best to explain my experiences to them, but I always felt there had to be a better way. Every plane ride home, I would ask myself, "How can I bring a piece of this city home?" Of course, there are t-shirts and magnets, but that does not do the gorgeous places of the US truly to life, and that is when I realized I could curate a box representing a city by reaching all of your senses. My next question was how do I pay it back to the cities that are giving so much to me..the answer was to partner with small and local businesses in the area! Travel motivates me and makes my heart soar in a way that I cannot describe each day I push forward to bring that high to my subscriber's doorstep.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is being voted Best Travel Subscription box by USToday Top10 two years in a row.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I have found that identifying how to expand and find new customers has been one of the most challenging parts of owning a business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just start! Do not wait until it is perfect to begin.
- Fall in love with it so much that anyone else doubting you or your self-doubt does not stop you.
- Keep going! It is hard, and you are doing your best. Give yourself some grace!
